Utah Trip – Arches National Park

FILED IN: Tips, Trips

I have always wanted to visit Arches National Park in Utah, this place has always looked so beautiful and unreal in photos. So I and a couple of my friends decided to make a quick road trip up there. It is about 10 hours away from the Bay Area but the drive was worth it especially when you see this kind of view on the way.

The first day was mainly driving, we stayed at an Air B&B which is the way to go when you are saving money. I would rather spend money on something else than a hotel room. We stayed in Salt Lake City while we were there and the city is just absolutely beautiful and not to mention very clean. Everything was lit up and you can see all the kids and family members walking in the down town area. It felt very safe and peaceful just to let you have a little vibe of what we felt.

The next day we drove to Arches National Park which was only a few hours away. The beauty of this magical place could not be captured by the lens. Everything looks so much smaller in camera but in real life these arches were monstrous! For example, this one below was way bigger than a football field, it’s called the Landscape Arch. These arches were formed out of the rocks from the wind and the rain over thousands of years. Utah has the most natural made arches in the world and these are all formed from sandstone. Sorry for the geology lesson, just a little bit of what I learned on this trip.

The sand here is one of the softest sands I have ever felt, very fine and amazingly soft. You felt like you were going to sink as you walked in it.

This part of the national park was mine and my friends favorite. It felt so majestic, quiet and peaceful! It was like Indian the Jones and the Last Crusade. Still the beauty of the surroundings were not able to capture what we saw with our own eyes.

You had to first walk through this small crack to get on the inside to see this place. It doesn’t look like much on the outside and you could just drive by it but once you go in it looks amazing.

This place was massive as you can see from how small we look!

Doesn’t it look like we were in another country?

Each one of these places you had to walk about a mile and a half to get there. It wasn’t a bad walk at all, especially anticipating what the next one was going to look like.

And of course Morgane and I had our little mini session in the dessert.

I was posin’ lol.

This is probably my favorite photo of them all. This was called the Double Arch Arches.

My other friend Tasha is not a fan of the camera so there are the only ones I have of her.

I just love sun setting time, it makes everything look so gorgeous!

This one is called Balanced rock hence the way the rock is balancing.

Yes, I was really laughing. If you know me, I am always smiling and laughing.

The next day we went to Park City which is a cute little town with little shops. We didn’t stay there very long however, since it was beginning to snow. We drove back to Salt Lake City and went to Trolley Square where all the shops are on the inside. Almost like a little mall.

I had to take a photo of the old camera. I really wanted to get one.

We had to get photos in the snow. When you don’t see snow very often you get excited hehe!

I did a snow angel in the freezing cold! I should have worn gloves but you know when your not thinking about it you forget.

After we had so much fun in the snow we had a movie night with some good Thai food, yum! We had such a great time! Even though it was a short trip it was so worth it. I would recommend to go at least once in your life. Tip: Don’t go in the summer, the park rangers said that it is extremely packed with people. Have a good winter and do something memorable!
