Just Engaged?!

FILED IN: Tips

Love is in the air! And your boyfriend has just asked you to marry him, you said “Yes!” and now you can’t stop gazing at that beautiful ring that he placed on your finger. The excitement has began to set in and now it’s time to start planning your big day! Right about now you are probably asking yourself “Where do I even begin?”

Well as you continue in this process and as you speak to various vendors along the way, one of the first questions your wedding planner will ask you is “So, what’s your budget?” So, first sit down and think about all of the things you will need to budget for to create your dream day. Consider if your family and/or his family will be helping to fund this shindig, and make sure you budget accurately. It’s better to over-budget than to come short of being able to pay for things that are most important to you. One of the easiest ways to find out what a budget should look like is to search on Google the costs of weddings in your area and look at how much people have spent on particular areas of their wedding day (i.e. flowers, photography, wedding gowns, tuxes, wedding rings, location, catering, etc.) You can also use apps like WeddingWire to help you check off items on your list and create your budget as well as let you know a round about price for how much everything costs.

Once you have established a budget, the first thing you should pick is a venue and selecting a date that the venue has available. Think about the season that you want to get married in and all of the things that you may want to have for the perfect venue. Read my blog on choosing the perfect venue. Venues book up very fast (sometimes a year out!) and it’s so important to get on their calendar as soon as possible! After that has been established, the other vendors can be selected and things will start to fall into place. Usually the next three vendors you will want to book is your wedding planner, your photographer and DJ. All of these vendors book at least a year in advance. Don’t just choose one based off of your budget you may want to increase it if you find the perfect one that fits your style. Choosing the right vendor can make or brake your wedding (seriously). Make sure to choose your vendors wisely and read up on yelp or other review sites to ensure you pick the one who is right for you! If you would like some great vendor recommendations please let me know and I will be happy to provide it for you.

Below are a few vendors that are great to work with. These are not even half of the fabulous vendors I have worked with. Enjoy planning your wedding!
