Wedding Gown Alterations – Questions To Ask!

It is becoming more popular in the wedding gown market for brides to opt for having their dress tailored to their body based on the style they want but what if you can’t have your dress made? Here are a few questions that many brides ask when curious about the process of alterations:

How much will it cost? — Typically alterations can vary in cost, depending on who it is that you hire to do the altering. You can expect to pay $400 – $700 (or more) on wedding gown alterations, depending upon the type of material that needs to be altered.

How long will it take for my dress to be altered? — It’s always best to plan ahead and give plenty of time for wedding gown alterations. If you can, purchase your wedding gown eight months from the time of your wedding to allow your dress to arrive and for alterations appointments to be scheduled. Most tailors require three fittings with the dress where you begin with the initial appointment, a second appointment once the bulk of the alterations have been completed and then one last fitting for the fine details. These appointments are typically spaced out in one-month increments before the big day.

What should I bring with me? — Make sure that you bring your undergarments and shoes with you to ensure that you have everything on that you will also be wearing on your wedding day. This will insure for a flawless look.

Note: These tips are also good for the gentlemen who want that perfect looking suit on their big day!

Congratulations the Newlyweds Melissa & Kevin! I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!!
