Formal Exit

FILED IN: Tips

Do you remember that popular wedding tradition where wedding guests would throw rice at the bride and groom as they exited the wedding ceremony? This custom was meant to symbolize rain which represented prosperity, fertility and good fortune for the happy couple. People speculated that rice harms the birds that came by later and ate the rice. While grain has been proven to be no imminent danger to birds, it is more common for couples to opt to use different items for their special send off.

So now that you are your honey have said “I do” and you have exchanged your first kiss as husband and wife, it’s now a perfect opportunity to let your guests partake in lighting your way down the aisle for your formal exit. For some couples, this moment happens while the sun is still shining and your guests can throw rose petals, blow bubbles or use colored smoke to paint the sky! However, if you are planning an evening wedding, your option could be to offer your guests to celebrate your union with sparklers, holding a path of candles or shaking glow sticks that can light up the nights sky.

Things to keep in mind: Don’t forget to think about a location that allows for your photographer to get a far view shot, as well as a close up. It’s so important for this moment to be recorded for you to remember for the many years to come!

Another option is to do a faux exit! A faux exit allows you and your groom to use the bridal party as the group to send you off, which allows the photographer to have more control over the shots you want taken, and meanwhile the party never has to stop for your guests! It’s a win win!

Whatever your option is for your exit, I am sure that this moment will be held in your memory forever!
