There are two important parts of graduating from high school; taking the photographs that will last a lifetime and walking the stage to receive your diploma!
So, now that you have booked an appointment with your photographer for this momentous occasion, you are probably wondering how to prepare?
Check out my list of everything you need to be prepared for this special day! Open Here!
Outfit Selection
Options:
Bring a few sets of outfits to include formal and non-formal options that will offer a variety during the shoot.
No Wrinkles:
Avoid wearing fabrics that will wrinkle such as linen, silk, and rayon. Opt for synthetic fabrics such as cotton, nylon and acrylic that have greater stability! And don’t forget to iron your clothes including your cap and gown.
Be Colorful:
Incorporate a variety of colors (but try to avoid neon!) and avoid wearing clothing with graphics or large logos.
Be Modest:
Choose flattering fitted clothing that complements your shape from all angles! (mostly for the girls)
Accessories:
Bring hats, scarves, and jewelry but keep it minimal. Try not to go overboard!
Be Comfortable:
There is nothing worse than someone that constantly is adjusting a piece of their attire because it makes them feel uncomfortable. Wear something that makes you feel relaxed. Wear a hairstyle that will reflect your personality and try not to make a drastic new hairstyle for your photos. If you do plan to get a haircut, have it done the week before to allow time for you to get used to it.
Be Fresh:
Fresh looking, natural daytime makeup is the best and more is less! The more you put on, the more natural it will look on camera. Try not to go overboard with colorful eye shadows. If you can, make an appointment to have it done professionally! It makes the photos so beautiful!
Clean Shave:
Don’t forget to shave just before your session. Light stubble can be picked up on the camera so make sure that you shave. (and be careful not to knick yourself!)
Cleanse Your Face:
Cleanse your face the morning of your photos to eliminate any oils or shine that will show in your photos.
What to Bring:
– 1 outfit change & Cap & Gown
Guys: It is good to wear layers and fitted clothes that match your body shape.
Girls: Consider wearing a nice dress with heels for a formal photo and then your outfit change can be a casual outfit, such as jeans and a cute top. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes for walking from place to place.
– Basic grooming supplies (i.e. brush/or comb, hairspray, make-up, mirror, static spray, etc.)
– Props that reflect your interests or personality (i.e. Instrument, sports, equipment, etc.)
